Special education teachers are those who primarily instruct students with special needs, from those with mild learning disabilities to those with serious physical handicaps. A special education degree is often followed by official licensure as a teacher. Some graduate students may already be licensed teachers when they enter an advanced education program, however. Both public and private learning institutions have a high demand for trained special education teachers.
