Emotional Intelligence

Some folks scoff at teaching emotional intelligence because it is not a “basic.”  Research in business and industry indicates the opposite of course - - that emotional intelligence is a primary cause of success or failure in employment.  Here are some resources that can be useful:
  1. Teaching Emotional Intelligence - - A second edition paperback book, (December 2007) by Adina Bloom Lewkowicz.  This book can provide help to teachers in grades K-12 as they integrate attention to the development of emotional intelligence into daily classroom activities. You can go to www.amazon.com to review SELF-SCIENCE:  THE EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE CURRICULUM published by Six Seconds.  This is a 2-year curriculum for elementary schools.  With Amazon’s description for this book, you will find references to materials for other grade levels including high school.
